Outer Delhi and New Delhi are the two new franchises in the Delhi Premier League that has been expanded to eight teams for the second edition which is scheduled to be played in August, 2025.

A consortium of Savita Paints and Prabh Dayal Om Prakash Infrastructure Private Limited have secured the rights for Outer Delhi for Rs 10.6 crore while a consortium of Bheema Tolling and Traffic Solutions Private Limited and Crayons Advertising Limited have secured the rights for New Delhi franchise for Rs 9.30 crore.

Gaursons Promoters Private Limited and a consortium of Alutech Panels Limited, E3 Edgebend Industries Private Limited and Softsecure Infotech Private Limited were the other two parties that had shown interest and filed for bids. However, the consortium comprising Alutech Panels were disqualified for some discrepancy in paperwork.

Gaursons Promoters, however, did not go beyond Rs 9.2 crore and lost the bid.

It should be noted that the amount paid by the six franchises in the inaugural edition were around Rs 8 crore. The latest sale of franchises has taken the value of the teams to close to Rs 70 crore and it also means that the prices of franchises have risen by well over a crore.

The auction of the players will be held on July 5. Each old franchise can retain four players across four categories and secure two players by exercising Right to Match card.

East Delhi Riders, the defending champions, South Delhi Superstarz, North Delhi Strikers, Central Delhi Kings, West Delhi Lions and Purani Dilli 6 are the other six franchises.

The bidding was held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium and lasted for not more than half an hour.

The DPL is the first league after Tamil Nadu Premier League to feature eight teams.
