New Delhi: Days three and four of the 5th PSPB Baba Deep Singh Hockey Men’s and Women’s Tournament witnessed a series of dominant performances, with Shyam Lal College, IGIPESS, SGTB Khalsa, and DU Alumni emerging as standout teams.
The opening match on Day 3 between Shyam Lal College and SGTB Khalsa College, both considered pioneers of Delhi University hockey, turned into a one-sided affair. Shyam Lal College displayed complete control across all four quarters, securing a commanding 8–0 victory. Khalsa conceded five goals in the first half and three in the second, struggling to contain the relentless attack.

In the second match, IGIPESS registered a convincing 7–0 win over St. Stephen’s College. Despite fielding a relatively new team after several years, St. Stephen’s showed determination and improved defensive organisation, conceding only two goals in the first half. However, IGIPESS dominated the latter half, adding five more goals to seal the match.
Amandeep, Dhruv, Yash, Sheshnath, and Soren Aman each scored once, while Chander netted twice and earned the Player of the Match award for his consistent attacking display.
The third match featured DU Alumni against VNC, where experience proved decisive. DU Alumni controlled proceedings from the outset and maintained their dominance to record a 5–0 victory. The first match of Day 4 saw KMC take on SGTB Khalsa in a closely contested encounter. Khalsa opened the scoring early through Vipin (Jersey No. 9), but KMC responded in the third quarter when Sahan Singh equalised. The match remained tense until the 42nd minute, when Rushil scored the decisive goal to secure a 2–1 victory for Khalsa. Sagar was awarded Player of the Match for his disciplined defensive effort.
Shyam Lal College continued their unbeaten run with another strong performance against Hansraj College. The first half ended goalless, with both sides showing resilience. However, Shyam Lal shifted gears in the third quarter, scoring twice within a minute through Pratyush (44th minute) and Manmohan (45th minute). Harsh further extended the lead in the 53rd minute. Hansraj managed a late consolation goal through Sagar Yadav in the 60th minute, but the match ended 3–1 in favour of Shyam Lal. Harsh was named Player of the Match for his impactful performance.
