Left-handed batsman Ayush Doseja was forced to miss the big Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Saurashtra this year, a game that pitted Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja against each other. It was an opportunity for him to come into limelight.

However, ahead of the match, the 22-year-old from Rohini twisted his ankle which pushed him out of cricket for over two-and-a-half months.

“I got injured just before I made my Ranji Trophy debut. I twisted my ankle which led to grade 3 ligament tear and ruled me out,” said Doseja on Wednesday to www.thedelhijunction.com

“I had a plaster on for four weeks, and after that I underwent rehab and therapy for two months. That was to prevent injury,” added Doseja, who returned to competitive cricket in March-end in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) League.

Doseja made immediate impression as he slammed three centuries in four DDCA league matches for Golden Hawks.

“I am feeling good now, stroking the ball well. I am 100% fit,” said Doseja, who continued his great form in the 40th Laxman Dass Chhabra Memorial Cricket Tournament on Wednesday. The tournament is a part of Delhi cricket's Hot Weather season.

His 108 runs off 87 balls (8x4s, 4x6s) powered Ravi Brothers to a four-wicket win over Gyanti Friends Club at the St Stephen’s Ground, Mori Gate.

This century was his fourth in five matches since return to cricket.

“I had played the third Vijay Hazare One-Dayer (this was his debut season) on January 5. After that I could play only in March. I am looking forward to this season. We also have Delhi Premier League (DPL) coming up,” added Doseja, who used to play for Ravi Brothers in DDCA League until last year.

“We batted first in first two league games and I got an opportunity to bat myself in and score tons. Then in the game against Telefunken, we batted second and I scored a century while chasing. In today’s game too, we were set a target of 300-plus. The pitch was good and I batted long to score a century and win the game for the team. I don’t feel out of touch,” said Doseja.

In Wednesday’s Laxman Dass cricket tournament game, Gyanti Friends Club scored 305/9 in 40 overs.

Delhi under-19 batsman Dhanya Nakara played a solid knock of 83 off 62 balls (7x4s, 5/6s). He was supported by Arvind Verma (55), Ishan (49) and Nidhiraj Basoya (38). Suraj Satpal took 2/60.

On a batting surface, the total didn’t prove enough.

Besides Doseja's century, Hardik Sharma hit 50, Sujal Singh made 49 to help Ravi Brothers reach 307/6 in 39 overs. Dev Kashyap took 3/62 and Harish Bhadana scalped 3/57 for the losers.
