IPL 2025 Auction to take place in Jeddah, 1745 players to go under hammer

The list includes 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players, and 30 players from Associate Nations; South Africa has the most number of players with 91

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24 and 25 with as many as 1574 players set to go under the hammer.

“The IPL player registration officially closed on November 4, 2024, with an impressive total of 1,574 players (1,165 Indian and 409 overseas) signing up to be part of the mega TATA IPL 2025 Player Auction, which will be held over two days on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia,” said a statement from the Indian Premier League (IPL). 

“The list includes 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players, and 30 players from Associate Nations,” the statement added.

There are 48 capped Indians i.e. those who have played for the India team, 272 capped internationals i.e. those who have played for the international teams, 152 uncapped Indians (not played for India) who were a part of previous IPL seasons, and three uncapped internationals (not played for any international team) who were a part of previous IPL seasons.

That apart there are 965 uncapped Indian players i.e. those who haven’t represented India. There are also 104 uncapped international players.

“With each franchise able to fill a maximum squad of 25 players, 204 slots will be up for grabs at the TATA IPL 2025 Player Auction,” added the statement from IPL.

Here is the country-wise breakdown of the overseas players: Afghanistan (29), Australia (76), Bangladesh (13), Canada (4), England (52), Ireland (9), Italy (1), Netherlands (12), New Zealand (39), Scotland (2), South Africa (91), Sri Lanka (29), UAE (1), USA (10), West Indies (33), Zimbabwe (8).
