The final of the 50th Tyagmurti GG Dutt Memorial Cricket Tournament at SGTB Khalsa College Ground was almost done and dusted in the first innings itself, seeming to end in favour of Sahgal Cricket Club, who had romped to 386/5 in 40 overs with Uttarakhand batsman Avneesh Sudha and hard-hitting Mohit Ahlawat registering centuries.
No. 3 Sudha scored 103 off 70 balls (11x4s, 3x6s) while No. 5 Ahlawat hammered 112 off 60 deliveries (11x4s, 6x6s).
Hrithik Shokeen had hit a quickfire 56 off 37 balls (4x4s, 5x6s) at the top, Robin Bisht chipped in with 55 off 41 balls at No. 4 while wicketkeeper Lakshay Thareja made an unbeaten 46 off 28 balls (7x4s) towards the end of the innings.

Mohit Ahlawat gets the Best Batsman of the Tournament Award
"We had lost a wicket in the first over only (of UP batsman Prince Yadav) after losing the toss. The ball was doing a bit and not coming on to the bat well. So I tried spending some time at the crease and build my innings as well as play according to the situation," said Sudha, who won the Man-of-the-Match Award.
"I could execute it. I have played two matches in this tournament, semi-final and final and I was the man-of-the-match in both the innings. I feel proud after performing in this tournament," said Sudha, who idolises Virat Kohli because of his aggression and consistency.
For a change in this tournament, skipper Mohammed Sultan Ansari did not bat as he let the bigger names, who were hard-hitting, take centrestage. The strategy was to go all out against Tilak Nagar Colts, who were a good team but were not expected to match the might of Sahgal, man to man.
Sahgal's final score was definitely going to test the young Tilak Nagar Colts, which features wards of former Modern School (Barakhamba Road) coach Uday Gupta.

Kanav Gambhir, batting in red helmet, took on the bowlers even as others around him could not contribute much. Skipper Aaditya Sharma's decision to send Tishant Dabla and Rahul Chaudhary (at No. 5 and 6 respectively) ahead of Kavya Gupta didn't go down well with coach Uday Gupta.
Coach Gupta reckons that Kavya is one of the finest batting talents in the Capital. He was, however, sent sixth down and played a knock that worried the Sahgal players for a fleeting moment.
But the gap was so huge that despite Kavya's knock, Tilak Nagar were always behind in the game. The right-handed youngster played beautiful shots including a breathtaking inside out six over extra cover and an effortless pull off a length ball over deep mid-wicket for another six. He was unbeaten on 80 off 44 balls (7x4s, 4x6s).

Rushal Saini is awarded for being picked as the promising player
"We did not field as well as we should have. Otherwise we could have won by over a 100 runs," said Sahgal skipper Ansari.
Tilak Nagar finished at 355/8, losing by 31 runs.
The Tyagmurti GG Dutt was second of the five premier Hot Weather tournaments. Lala Raghubir Memorial, Goswami Ganesh Dutt Memorial (organised by Vikas Katyal) and DDCA Hot Weather will take place after this.
