New Delhi: Explosive batting performances by Abhishek Goswami and Karan Kashyap highlighted action-packed days on May 26 and 27 in the 49th All India Lala Raghubir Singh Hot Weather Cricket Tournament at the Modern School Grounds in New Delhi.

At Modern School Ground No.1 on Tuesday, Tilak Nagar Colts C.C. pulled off a thrilling two-wicket victory over LB Shastri Coaching Centre in a high-scoring encounter, though the win was not enough to secure a semifinal berth. Chasing a qualification requirement of reaching the target within 20 overs, Tilak Nagar managed the chase in 23 overs and fell short of progressing to the last four stage. Sporting Club advanced instead.

Batting first, LB Shastri Coaching Centre posted a competitive 254 for 8 in 40 overs. Viraj S led the scoring with a fluent 50, while Raman Bishnoi contributed 55 off 48 balls. Captain Sampoorn Tripathi added a brisk 52 off 37 balls, and wicketkeeper Abhiraj Gagan Singh chipped in with 21 runs. For Tilak Nagar Colts, Madhur Upadhyay starred with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 51 runs. Garv Kataria claimed 2 for 31, while Piyash Chhikkara also picked up two wickets.

In reply, Tilak Nagar Colts launched a fierce assault on the target. Opener Abhishek Goswami played a sensational knock of 110 off 52 balls, smashing boundaries all around the ground at a strike rate above 200. Mehul Chaudhary scored 36, while skipper Gaurav Sabharwal added a crucial 51. LB Shastri bowlers fought hard through Parnit Tiwari, Akarsh Srivastava and Sampoorn Tripathi, who claimed two wickets each, but Tilak Nagar eventually reached 255 for 8 in 23 overs to seal a dramatic win.

Meanwhile, at the same ground on May 27, Khushhal Cricket Academy registered a commanding six-wicket victory over Bright Cricket Club, powered by a scintillating unbeaten innings from Karan Kashyap.

Bright Cricket Club were bowled out for 196 in 34.2 overs despite useful knocks from Vansh Mehra (40), Rasal (34) and Vyom Arora (26). Payanier Joshi was the standout bowler for Khushhal Cricket Academy with figures of 3 for 22, while Prabhjot Singh and Samar Kohar took two wickets each.

Chasing 197, Khushhal Cricket Academy completed the task in just 22.4 overs, finishing at 199 for 4. Karan Kashyap stole the limelight with a blazing unbeaten 87 off only 53 balls, hammering 16 boundaries. Jaskaran Singh supported him well with 44 runs, while Kashmas Sharma added 24.
