India set for new fielding coach ahead of Sri Lanka tour

New Delhi: The Indian cricket team's support staff is set for a change ahead of the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, with the contracts of assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate and fielding coach T Dilip coming to an end following India's tour of the United Kingdom.

Ten Doeschate's two-year contract with the Indian men's team expired on June 10, while Dilip's one-year extension concluded on June 8. Both coaches, however, continued in their roles until the completion of India's tour of the United Kingdom.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided against extending the contracts of either coach and is now in the process of appointing a new fielding coach before the Sri Lanka series.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that the board is in the final stages of identifying Dilip's successor.

"There is no question of accepting resignation as the contract has ended. We are currently in talks with two to three names and expect to finalise the details within a day or two. India will have a new fielding coach for tour of Sri Lanka," Saikia told PTI.

The appointments are expected to be completed before India's departure for the two-Test series in Sri Lanka, with the new fielding coach set to join the support staff for the tour.
