Ayush Doseja continued his great run of form, scoring 99 off 66 balls to subdue centuries from Anish Gautam (137 off 113 balls) and Chaitanya Sharma (101 off 84 balls) as Ravi Brothers prevailed over RP Cricket Academy in the pre-quarterfinals of the 40th Laxman Dass Memorial Cricket Tournament.
Doseja, the left-handed batsman, has been in great form and is currently the second highest run-getter in the tournament with 207 runs in two matches. He had scored a century in the first game he played in the tournament.
"We had chased 300-plus in the last match of this tournament. On Monday too, we were chasing 307 runs. We are glad we batted well," said Doseja after the match.
Doseja couldn't make his Ranji Trophy debut this year as he suffered an injury ahead of the Delhi-Saurashtra match.
That injury (grade 3 ligament tear following twisting of ankle) in January ensured he stayed off the cricket field till March-end when h returned through DDCA League.
But he has been reeling off centuries since return.
On Monday too, he was in prime form.
While RP Academy's innings sailed smoothly with Anish Gautam and Chaitanya Sharma adding 212 runs for the third wicket, Ravi Brothers found the going ridden with fall of wickets.
In their quest for a fast approach with opener Sujal Singh making 50 off 44 balls, they kept losing wickets and soon became 167/5 in 23 overs. However, skipper Doseja, who had walked in at No. 4 added 66 for the sixth wicket with Raunak Waghela (40 off 31 balls) and that saw the team back on track.
Doseja fell as the seventh wicket with the team still needing 41 runs off 29 balls. The target was within reach but then, there were only three wickets left.
Dev Kashyap, a left-arm pacer who was part of Purani Dilli team in Delhi Premier League (DPL), smacked 32 off 20 balls (3x4s, 2x6s) to take Ravi Brothers into the quarters.
The Laxman Dass Chhabra Memorial Cricket Tournament is part of Delhi cricket's Hot Weather Circuit.
