New Delhi: A blistering unbeaten century by Tanuj Panwar powered Young Friends Cricket Club into the semifinals as they crushed Sporting Cricket Club by seven wickets in the third quarterfinal of the Tyagmurti Goswami Ganesh Dutt Memorial 40-over Tournament played at the SGTB Khalsa College Grounds on Monday. Chasing 170, Young Friends raced to victory in just 16.2 overs courtesy of Panwar’s explosive knock of 114 not out off 56 balls.

Winning the toss, Young Friends Cricket Club skipper Mayank Rawat elected to field first, and his bowlers responded brilliantly to restrict Sporting Cricket Club to 169 in 32.5 overs.

Sporting’s innings revolved around Vikas Solanki, who struck 63 off 62 balls, while Lalit Yadav contributed a brisk 44 off 34 deliveries. However, the rest of the batting line-up failed to offer much resistance against a disciplined Young Friends bowling attack.

Piyash Chikara starred with the ball, claiming three for 20, while Deep Thakur also picked up three wickets for 32 runs. Captain Mayank Rawat chipped in with two wickets for 28 runs to keep Sporting under pressure throughout the innings.

In reply, Young Friends Cricket Club produced a batting masterclass. Tanuj Panwar dominated the chase with a breathtaking unbeaten 114 off just 56 deliveries, smashing 15 boundaries and seven sixes. Naveen Kumar provided solid support with an unbeaten 21 off 10 balls as the target was overhauled comfortably with seven wickets in hand.

Rahul Rathi was the only Sporting Cricket Club bowler to make an impact, finishing with figures of two for 41.

For his match-winning century, Tanuj Panwar was adjudged Player of the Match.

In the second quarterfinal, played on Sunday, an all-round performance by Arjun Rapria guided Sehgal Cricket Club to a thrilling four-wicket victory over Essex Farms Sports Cricket Club at the SGTB Khalsa College Grounds.

After winning the toss, Sehgal Cricket Club elected to bowl. Batting first, Essex Farms Sports Cricket Club posted a competitive 282 all out in 38.3 overs, thanks largely to a century by Kavya, who struck 102 off 89 balls with eight boundaries and two sixes. Suryansh Raina chipped in with a quickfire 40 off 25 balls, while Dipesh Bhalyan added 34 off 28 deliveries.

Sehgal Cricket Club bowlers shared the spoils effectively, with Arjun Rapria leading the attack with figures of 3 for 28. Prince Yadav and Yajas Sharma claimed two wickets each for 43 and 44 runs respectively, while Nishant Thakur also bagged two wickets for 45 runs.

In reply, Sehgal Cricket Club successfully chased down the target, scoring 287 for 6 in 39.2 overs. Rapria capped off a memorable outing with an unbeaten 86 off 70 balls, smashing six fours and three sixes. Dev Dubey played a vital supporting role with 76 off 65 deliveries, while Prince Yadav contributed 37 and Tushar Bhardwaj added 34 runs.

For Essex Farms Sports Cricket Club, Aashish Meena was the standout bowler with figures of 3 for 38, while Rohan Parchanda picked up one wicket.

Arjun Rapria was adjudged the Kimati-sponsored Player of the Match for his match-winning all-round display of 86 not out and 3 for 28.

Essex Farms batter Kavya received the Sports Sun-sponsored "Spirited Player” Award for his outstanding century.
