New Delhi: The DDCA Hot Weather Tournament 2026 got underway at Modern School, Barakhamba Road on Tuesday (June 9) in the presence of DDCA President Rohan Jaitley and other DDCA members.
Among the dignitaries present were Rajkumar Sharma and Sunita Sharma, both of whom are Dronacharya awardees.
The Hot Weather Tournament is the most prestigious tournament of Delhi and NCR. The top 36 teams from the DDCA League will take part and compete to become champions.
The Hot Weather tournament has been a stepping stone for every Delhi cricketer’s career as it is here, in the peak summer heat, that the performances are counted and they go a long way in shaping and moulding players.

Modern School hosted Sarojini Nagar Gymkhana and Rajinder Nagar Colts in the opening match of the tournament this year. The Colts beat Gymkhana by six wickets.
Sarojini Nagar Gymkhana won the toss and elected to bat. They lost their opener Kavi in the very first over. While Gymkhana were on road to posting a challenging total, the Colts struck at regular intervals to restrict them to 234/9 in 40 overs.
In reply, Colts’ captain Nikhil Chandel saw off the chase comfortably scoring an unbeaten 177 off just 80 balls.

Rohan Jaitley who was present at the toss thanked officials from the DDCA for hosting tournaments throughout the year and commended their efforts.
Jaitley touched on the discipline factor among the players. He urged the players to stay disciplined in achieving their goals which will help in building their personality, and aid them in life and also their career.
He also warned about certain disciplinary issues which had been reported earlier by match officials.
"I hope they are not continued in future," he said.

DDCA Secretary Ashok Sharma, addressing the guests and players present, said, "This is the oldest and the most prestigious tournament in Delhi and the performances in this tournament go a long way in helping a player get recognition in the Delhi circuit since it comprises the top league teams."
He also thanked his colleagues and wished all the luck to players and also announced, amid a big cheer from the players, that there will be a 10 percent increase in the prize money this year.
