Delhi defeated Bengal by a massive margin of 214 runs at the GMSSS Sec-26 Cricket Ground, Chandigarh to start their campaign in the BCCI Women’s Under-23 One-Day Trophy on a winning note.

Batting first, Delhi had smashed 255/3 in 50 overs with Upasana Yadav (95 off 143 balls) and skipper Tanisha Singh (77 off 95 balls) adding 155 runs for the second wicket. Deeksha chipped in with unbeaten 27 and Purva made 46 not out off 24 balls.

The Delhi bowlers then did not allow the Bengal women to even get to 50. The Bengal side was dismissed for 41 in 18.2 overs.

Deeksha was the pick of the bowlers with 3/7 in three overs. Sumiti Soni took 2/6.

Madhu and Purva took one wicket each.

The Delhi under-23 team had, earlier in the season, won the BCCI Women’s T20 Tournament.

Delhi next play Gujarat on Friday. Delhi, Gujarat and Maharashtra have four points in Group C but Delhi are on top because of superior net run rate.
