New Delhi: Madras Cricket Club stormed into the semi-finals of the tournament after registering a dominant 77-run victory over Dodge Sports Cricket Club and subsequently receiving a walkover against Tilak Nagar Colts Cricket Club in the next round. Riding on back-to-back progressions, Madras Cricket Club has now emerged as one of the strongest contenders in the ongoing Tyagmurti Goswami Ganesh Dutt Memorial Cricket Tournament.
On Thursday, a century by Abhay Chauhan and a five-wicket haul from Rehan Singh powered Madras Cricket Club to a commanding 77-run victory over Dodge Sports Cricket Club in the pre-quarterfinal at the SGTB Khalsa College Ground.
After winning the toss, Madras Cricket Club captain Keshav R. Singh opted to bat first. The decision paid off as Madras Cricket Club posted a formidable 350 for 9 in their allotted 40 overs.
Leading the charge was Abhay Chauhan, who smashed 125 off just 66 balls. Sujal Rajeev Singh contributed a valuable 50 off 39 deliveries, while Jasvir Sherawat added 30 off 24 balls to strengthen the innings.
For Dodge Sports Cricket Club, Nikhil and Shivank Vashisht picked up two wickets each, conceding 45 and 46 runs respectively. Akhil Chaudhary (2/64) and Satyam Sangu (2/73) also chipped in with two wickets apiece.
Chasing a daunting target of 351, Dodge Sports Cricket Club fought hard but were bowled out for 273 in 39.3 overs. Uwais Ahmed top-scored with a quickfire 68 off 37 balls, while Divyansh Joshi made 44 off 50 deliveries and Satyam Sangu added 43 off 39 balls.
Madras Cricket Club’s bowling attack was led by Rehan Singh, who returned impressive figures of 5 for 43 to seal a convincing victory for his side.
Meanwhile, Madras Cricket Club were awarded a walkover against Tilak Nagar Colts Cricket on Friday, May 22, 2026.
Tilak Nagar Colts Cricket Club failed to report at the venue on time due to confusion regarding the scheduled date. Following tournament rules, the umpires and tournament committee awarded the match to Madras Cricket Club.
Madras Cricket Club will now face the winner of the quarter-final clash between Sporting Cricket Club and Young Friends Cricket Club in the semi-finals on May 28, 2026.
