New Delhi: Opening batsman Yash Bhatia's blistering summer is continuing to roll on with third successive big century on Monday at the Laxman Dass Chhabra Memorial Cricket Tournament underway at the St Stephen's College Ground here.
Bhatia, a right-handed batsman who also represented Food Corporation of India (FCI) last year, is playing for Bal Bhavan Cricket Academy here. He hammered 191 off 93 balls against Tilak Nagar Colts in Monday's game as Bal Bhavan coasted into the semi-finals with a 64-run win. He smashed 26 fours and nine sixes. Delhi Ranji Trophy player Arpit Rana scored 126 runs off 87 balls with 16 fours and two sixes while Musaif Ejaz added 44 runs.
Batting first, Bal Bhavan, Dwarka posted a massive total of 454/6 in 40 overs. In reply, Tilak Nagar Colts were bowled out for 390 runs in 39.4 overs.
For the losing side, Karan Zaveri scored 139 runs off 89 balls, including 13 fours and five sixes. Dhruv Kaushik smashed 70 runs off just 29 balls with six fours and sixes sixes while Shaurya Malik scored 63 and Aryan Sharma contributed 40 runs.
Yash Bhatia now has scores of 182 runs in 79 balls vs Bhavani Youth Cricket Academy, 164 runs in 89 balls vs Friends XI and 191 in 93 balls vs Tilak Nagar Colts. Yash Bhatia totals 537 runs in three matches with an average of 179 and strike rate of 205.75.
In another quarterfinal, Kushal Pal's ton helped Pioneer Cricket Club beat Mount Cricket Club by three wickets. Batting first, Mount posted a total of 282/6 in 40 overs. In reply, Pioneer Cricket Club successfully chased down the target, scoring 283/7 in 38.5 overs to claim the victory.
Man of the Match Kushal Pal displayed explosive batting prowess, smashing 100 runs off just 55 balls — an innings laced with 14 fours and four sixes.
Yugal Saini had scored 62 for Mount while Yamit Sehrawat made 49 runs.
In another quarterfinal, Kunal Sangwan's unbeaten 118 off 104 balls and Shivam Gupta's 78 off 37 balls took Sporting Club to a seven-wicket win over Rajnigandha Achievers. Rajnigandha Achievers scored 335 all out in 39.4 overs. In response, Sporting got to 338 in 38 overs, losing just three wickets.
