Priyansh Arya has been picked by Outer Delhi as their equivalent of retention for the upcoming Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 while Nitish Rana's tournament is in a limbo after the matter of him not fulfilling the cooling period after shifting state from Uttar Pradesh to his native Delhi was raised.

The DPL will feature two new teams taking the total strength to eight teams. While the six franchises, who were part of the first edition last year, decided their retentions on Tuesday, both new teams Outer Delhi and New Delhi were given the choice to pick from the remaining players.

Purani Dilli 6 have retained India Test vice-captain Rishabh Pant, South Delhi Superstarz have retained the talismanic Ayush Badoni, North Delhi Strikers have kept back India pace bowler Harshit Rana, West Delhi Lions have retained the talented young batsman Ayush Doseja, Central Delhi Kings have retained Ranji veteran Jonty Sidhu while defending champions East Delhi Riders have retained wicketkeeper-batsman Anuj Rawat, who scored plenty of runs last year and was part of IPL this year.

While Outer Dehi went for Arya, it has been learnt that New Delhi wanted Nitish Rana, who represented Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year. New Delhi have now picked Himmat Singh, who led East Delhi Riders to title in the inaugural season.

"There is some concern over his eligibility to play cricket related to Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) this season as he was part of Uttar Pradesh last season. He needs to undergo a cooling period," said an official aware of the matter.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) told www.thedelhijunction.com that the matter of cooling period rests with the state association as it happened with Sarfaraz Khan, who shifted states, first from Mumbai to UP and then back.

In Delhi, there is a precedent when Kshitiz Sharma was asked to undergo cooling period before being able to represent Delhi state team. However, it is believed that the rule has been changed since then.

There are talks that Nitish Rana's name could appear in DPL auction now.

The DPL auction, which was initially scheduled to take place on July 5, will now be held on July 6 and July 7. The men's auction will be conducted on July 6 while the women's auction will take place on July 7.
