The Outer Delhi Warriors, one of the two new franchises of the Delhi Premier League (DPL), have announced Delhi left-arm pace bowler Siddhant Sharma as their skipper for the 2025 season.

While Siddhant was named the skipper, all-rounder Harsh Tyagi has been named as his deputy.

"We decided to name Siddhant as the skipper ahead of Priyansh Arya (who helped Punjab Kings reach IPL 20205 final) and Suyash Sharma (who was part of the IPL 2025-winning Royal Challengers Bangalore squad) because we wanted both the IPL stars to focus on their performance and not be burdened by the captaincy," said Ashu Dani, the Head Coach.

"We wanted both Arya and Suyash to play with free mind. Siddhant has leadership qualities and he will have Tyagi for support," added Dani.

Shekhar Sharma, the Chief Executive Officer of Outer Delhi Warriors, said that the decision rests with the coaching staff.

"The coaching staff has taken a decision and we know their decisions are in the best interest of the team. We have full faith in Siddhant as skipper to deliver," said Shekhar Sharma.

Siddhant was bought in the auction for Rs 12.50 lakh. Arya was retained for Rs 21 lakh, Suyash was sold for Rs 15 lakh, Harsh Tyagi got Rs 19 lakh while Anshuman Hooda went for Rs 12.5 lakh and left-handed batsman Dhruv Singh earned Rs 13.5 lakh.

"All the players are good and we are hoping for a good performance," said Siddhant.

The tournament begins on August 2 and ends on August 31
